    Apprenticeship & Craft Training

    ABC is a strong advocate for apprenticeship programs and has provided leadership and committee member support for the programs in Central Pennsylvania.

    ABC administered programs offer comprehensive, highly acclaimed training utilizing the NCCER and Education Direct curriculms.

    Business Development

    ABC is the only association actively promoting the benefits of Merit Shop Construction. ABC works to eliminate restrictive policies in all phases of public and private construction. ABC is the only national construction association that markets its members' services through a computerized referral system.

    The Central Pennsylvania Chapter offers our members many opportunities to promote their services:

    • Business referral through the Chapter and other members.
    • The Chapter's User's Guide published and distributed on an annual basis.

      Legislation-Government Relations

      ABC maintains a visible presence at all levels of government.

      ABC's National Government Regulations department monitors legislation and regulations in Washington, D.C., alerting ABC members of matters that impact their businesses and the construction industry as a whole. ABC members give testimony and lobby for legislation and regulations that affect the Merit Shop Philosophy. Our National Legislative Conference gathers ABC members from all parts of the country to carry our message to Capitol Hill.

      The Chapter's Legislative Committee monitors legislation at the state and local levels to keep our members informed.

      Publications

      All ABC members receive the chapter's quarterly newsletter, The Chalkline, national's semi-monthly newsletter, ABC Today, as well as the "The Merit Shop News", a weekly update on local, state and federal activities.

      The Chapter Users Guide/Directory is published and distributed annually to 300 firms in Pennsylvania. Advertising space is available and encouraged in this publication for the promotion of your firm.

      The National Directory, which lists every ABC member firm nationwide, is available on our website under Member Directory.

      Labor Relations & Education

      ABC promotes pre-job conferences, strategy sessions and seminars relating to labor relations. Members are kept abreast of changes affecting their employees.

      Your ABC investment includes initial consultation with ABC's labor attorney and the ABC Fact File which contains over a quarter-century of ABC's experience in laymen's language. Our chapter retains the best labor attorneys in the area and the Association keeps its members closely informed as to their rights under the law.
