Established in 1989 by the ABC National Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Committee, the Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) program was developed and written by contractors, for contractors. There is no charge for this service (unless you are applying for STEP Platinum), and your responses are strictly confidential.
Using the STEP application provided by ABC National, contractors evaluate thier programs and receive certificates for qualifying at etiher the Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum levels. Contractors can use the STEP certification, which last for one year, as a business marketing tool and to improve safety at their firms.
The STEP Program:
- Provides firms with an organized approach to analyze and further develop safety and loss prevention programs
- Provides a valid, objective method to measure safety program improvements
- Provides firms with safety performance recognition that can be used as an important business development tool with clients
